At TLC I like to think of all the children who come into my care as butterflies. My job as a child caregiver for these butterflies is much like “Mother Nature.” I keep them safe in the cocoon, “my learning corner”, while they grow and change into what they are meant to become. When the time is right, they sprout wings and are able to fly out into the world on their own. Each of these butterflies develops at their own pace and some may need more time than others in the cocoon, but with a little extra nurturing and patience they are soon reaching new heights. Besides, all butterflies, regardless of size, or color, or what stage of development they are in, bring the same amount of beauty and joy to the world. Some just need a good wind beneath their wings to realize their potential. As a parent and a professional early childhood educator, my goal is to help them to learn and grow. |

Parents these days are busier than ever! More than seventy-five percent of two-parent American families have both parents working now. Between later work hours and extended drive time, there is little time left to spend with our children much less prepare healthy dinners. In addition, sadly, due to the economy, it has become more cost effective to purchase meals on the go rather than the ingredients it takes to prepare nutritous meals from home. Our little ones have a hard time trying to keep up with our nightly agendas as it is, not to mention the lack of quality bonding time that leaves them wanting more so much so that they will make any excuse not to go to bed or stay in bed just to be able to spend a few more minutes with us. |
